Getting Filler in Korea: What Should You Know Before You Book?
Korean HA filler starts around ₩120,000 per cc; Juvederm and Restylane cost three to four times that. How to check the product, why forehead and nose filler are riskier than Korean ads suggest, which fillers can be dissolved, and how many days to stay after.
Short answer: At one Gangnam clinic in 2026, Korean hyaluronic acid (HA) filler started at ₩120,000 (about $86) per cc and Juvederm at ₩450,000 ($320), both before VAT. Ask for the brand by name and see the box. Be more careful with forehead, nose and under-eye filler than Korean ads suggest. We plan at least three days in Seoul afterward, since that's when vascular problems tend to show.
Filler is cheap in Seoul, quick, and offered almost everywhere. The Korea Economic Daily in 2025 put an average filler session at ₩200,000 to ₩300,000, about a third of the price in Japan.
The low price is real. It also means people book on impulse, which is the wrong way to approach something injected near arteries.
How much does filler cost in Korea?
Mostly a matter of brand. One clinic group's Gangnam price page in 2026 lists starting prices per cc, VAT excluded:
| Product | Made by | From, per cc |
|---|---|---|
| Korean HA brands | Korea | ₩120,000 (~$86) |
| Belotero | Merz, Germany | ₩290,000 (~$207) |
| Juvederm | Allergan, US | ₩450,000 (~$321) |
| Restylane | Galderma, Sweden | ₩479,000 (~$342) |
Korean brands are approved by Korea's drug and device regulator, the MFDS (식약처). They aren't a knock-off category. The difference is mostly price, product feel, and how long the clinic says they last; that page gives 6 to 12 months for Korean HA and up to 18 for Juvederm.
Ask how many cc the plan uses. A low per-cc price on a two-cc plan isn't cheap.
How do you check what's being injected?
Ask to see the sealed box before it's opened. Korean medical devices carry a standard UDI barcode, and the MFDS medical device portal lets you scan it with a phone to see the product's approval details.
A Gangnam Unni guide updated in October 2026 lists the product's approval status as one of the things safety depends on, along with injection site, depth, volume and the injector's skill. For more on what to ask at the clinic, see how a Korean dermatology clinic visit works.
Are forehead and nose filler safe?
They carry more risk than the cheek or chin, and Korean doctors say so. In a December 2025 column on Kormedi, a Seoul plastic surgeon wrote that forehead filler is very common in Korea but outside approved uses. He pointed to the forehead, the area between the brows, the nose and around the eyes as zones with shallow, variable blood vessels.
He also noted that the FDA recommends against filler in several of those areas, and that a young Korean woman had recently posted about skin necrosis and threatened vision after forehead filler.
None of this means no one should get it. It means you ask the doctor how they reduce the risk in that area, and whether they keep hyaluronidase on hand.
Can filler be dissolved if you don't like it?
HA filler can, with an enzyme called hyaluronidase (필러 녹이기). Sculptra and Radiesse can't. The Gangnam Unni guide adds that dissolving isn't a clean undo: with a large volume, the outer part may dissolve and the inner part may not.
How long should you stay in Seoul after filler?
We plan at least three days, longer if the trip allows. The same guide says vascular complications usually appear within about three days. A Seoul clinic group's aftercare page lists the signs: pain that keeps getting worse, skin that turns pale or dusky, or a net-like pattern of spots. Those mean calling the clinic that day.
Bruising usually fades in one to two weeks. More on timing in skin treatment downtime before a flight.
